We are Harcus.

A solicitor and estate agency specialising in buying and selling homes in Orkney. Whether you’re moving to Orkney for the first time, or you’ve lived here your whole life, we know the area inside out – and we’re here to give you advice whenever you need it.

Meet the team

Colin Harcus

Solicitor and Managing Director

After obtaining a BA Law & Management from Robert Gordon University, Colin worked as a Conveyancing Paralegal at a large law firm in Edinburgh. He returned to Orkney to complete three further years of study, and a two-year traineeship, before qualifying as a solicitor in 2008.

Colin began practising as a solicitor at the Orkney Property Centre, before establishing his own firm, The Orkney Law Practice in 2014, which later became Orkney Law Ltd in 2018. Orkney Law Ltd purchased the premises and business of Orkney Financial & Property Centre Ltd in 2018, with the two companies rebranding together as Harcus Law Ltd in 2022.

Colin and Rona live in Kirkwall with their three children, Euan, Erlend and Evie. Born and bred in Kirkwall, Colin has been a member of Orkney Golf Club since his early teens and has had several roles on the Club Committee, including three years as Junior Convenor. So, when he’s not crossing the I’s and dotting the T’s, you’ll find him on the golf course playing from his favourite ‘tee’.

Shaaron Bews

Property Manager

Born and brought up in Orkney, Shaaron joined Orkney Financial & Property Centre Ltd in 2008 and has since developed extensive knowledge and experience of the local property market. With a keen eye for detail and a talent for eye catching photography, Shaaron ensures that your property is presented in the best possible light.

Whether you are selling your property through us or interested in buying one of our properties, Shaaron is your go-to person on the estate agency side and she’ll make sure everything runs smoothly for you.

When Shaaron’s not working on your property marketing plan, she’ll be spending valuable time with her family and friends.
